Job Description

We are seeking an Applications Technician for our client, a family-owned and operated food flavoring business in Greensboro! This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity with a competitive pay rate depending on experience, and an 8: 00am-5: 00pm working schedule. The Applications Technician is responsible for utilizing current flavors and working closely with flavorists to develop beverage confections and bakery applications. This position requires strong analytical skills, strict attention to detail, and thorough knowledge of the Food Industry. Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years of beverage chemistry experience and excellent communication skills. If you feel your skill set matches the requirements below, apply today!

- Basic understanding of the formulation of various food applications
- Understand and conduct entire formulation process including accurate compounding of flavors, raw material handling, measuring physical properties, and computer entry of formulations and specifications
- Basic understanding of ingredients used in food and beverages
- Ability to perform analytical quality control tests (including specific gravity, refractive, index, pH, brix, etc)
- Prepare taste tests to support flavor applications
- Interface with production and other departments as necessary for completion of job tasks
- Support customer visits
- Interact with sales/customers during project execution
- Perform laboratory processes required for preparation of intermediates and finished flavors, as well as applications such as liquid compounding, extractions, etc.
- Maintain laboratory work area in a clean and safe manner
- Follow appropriate safe and laboratory procedures
- Complete required documentation and follow the instructions of Food Safety, Security training, Good Manufacturing Practices, and all other Regulatory training programs
- Other duties as assigned

- Bachelor' s degree in Food Science or Food Chemistry or related field
- At least 3 years of beverage chemistry experience
- Strong desire and ability to continue education and professional development and growth
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Strong math aptitude (for calculating and preparing dilutions of flavoring materials, flavor creations and applications)
- Able to understand, and carry out direction of Management
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interact productively on internal/external basis
- Ability and willingness to collaborate, learn, and mentor co-workers
